Why Go to the Trouble?
Why sew a coat
if you don't want
anyone to wear it?
Why plant an orchard
if you don't want
anyone to eat from it?
Why build a house
if you don't want
anyone to live in it?
Why seek the truth
if you don't want
anyone to have it?
1 comment:
Before and After
I sew this coat for a wanderer
Who fathered us all before
Disappearing into the fog
I harvest peaches before
Frost can kill the crop
And start canning for the winter
I watch the Amish raise
Our barn and give the eldest
That seafarer’s coat
All the other workers
Enjoy fallen peaches
After their labors.
