I grew up in Christian fundamentalism, went to hell, came back, became a Presbyterian then a Buddhist Presbyterian, and now I'm a profane Presbyterian Zen Taoist -- not that I'm into labels or anything. Here's what I've learned so far: The more you know, the more you know you don't know.

Ghosts
No longer are they here
Shadows of the mind
Who gave without a care
Who could be that kind
Portals to the past
Have permanently shut
Both parents have now passed
All ties have now been cut
Why suffer such disgrace
Alone without a friend
Where poems leave no trace
And even questions end
True wisdom ascertains
Ways for stopping pains
[Disposable Poem November 17, 2009]

While there should be no question that pain can beget wisdom, other things can beget wisdom too. : )
