Ask. Seek. Knock.

Ask and you'll receive. Seek and you'll find. Knock and the door will burst open for you.

When Jesus made these claims, he wasn't talking about the material world of time and space. He was talking about our spiritual lives.

When we ask for spiritual insight, we receive it. When we seek spiritual truth, we find it all around us. When we knock on the door of the Tao, we discover there is no door.

OR -- when we knock on the door, we discover that we ourselves ARE the door. :)

I think most of his teachings are in this realm and thus widely misunderstood by the church at large. I didn't know I was a Taoist until now.

Arkansherpa: Thanks for checking in. I agree with you about Jesus' teachings. One of the reasons I started this blog was to explore other ways I could view Jesus and his teachings beyond what I've been taught in my years (and years and years) in church.

As for being a Taoist, it's just another label -- like Christian, Buddhist, Atheist. We're all unique, so labels can only go so far in helping us understand who we are.

Or so it seems to me.

Thanks for your comments. I hope you get a chance to check in again soon.
