I have already made all of the mistakes I will ever make. I have already walked all of the miles I will ever walk. I have already seen all of the mysteries I will ever see. It is the passing of time that makes it seem otherwise.
I grew up in Christian fundamentalism, went to hell, came back, became a Presbyterian then a Buddhist Presbyterian, and now I'm a profane Presbyterian Zen Taoist -- not that I'm into labels or anything. Here's what I've learned so far: The more you know, the more you know you don't know.

Killing Time
You may believe that you have
Nothing more to do,
But that’s wishful thinking.
Life imposes lulls, tranquil
Passages that make you feel
Beneficent about things as they are.
Then chaos resumes, both inner
And outer calamities, mistakes
Made intentionally or not.
The road before you lengthens
And strange lights spiral
Across the arctic borealis.
The mystery is not over
Until you are, and then you will
Have successfully killed time.
