I grew up in Christian fundamentalism, went to hell, came back, became a Presbyterian then a Buddhist Presbyterian, and now I'm a profane Presbyterian Zen Taoist -- not that I'm into labels or anything. Here's what I've learned so far: The more you know, the more you know you don't know.

The Air Bubble
The air bubble
That keeps a scuba diver alive,
If caught in the throat,
Can kill faster than a falling
Stock exchange.
Not even death wipes out debt:
Chinese burn paper money
So smoke reaches their ancestors
But without the air bubble,
There can be no fire.
Without the air bubble,
There can be no stock exchange
Gambling on the rise of credit
That underlies fantasy
Money in banks.
It’s no surprise that Venus
Rises on the half-shell
Of soap bubbles selling
Conditioner for her curls
And perfume in Venice.
