I grew up in Christian fundamentalism, went to hell, came back, became a Presbyterian then a Buddhist Presbyterian, and now I'm a profane Presbyterian Zen Taoist -- not that I'm into labels or anything. Here's what I've learned so far: The more you know, the more you know you don't know.

I think sadness, depression, and despair is the byproduct of mind's evolved capability to produce complex anticipation--wish and expectation.
We have known the perfect.
We long for it, and know we'll never have it in this life.
Because it's part of the journey.
A wise man once said, a fish is not aware of water, until it's thrown out of it.
We're like the fish--we're being thrown out so we can be aware of the perfect.
I guess.
:D
Expectations. Perfection.
An interesting pairing.
