I grew up in Christian fundamentalism, went to hell, came back, became a Presbyterian then a Buddhist Presbyterian, and now I'm a profane Presbyterian Zen Taoist -- not that I'm into labels or anything. Here's what I've learned so far: The more you know, the more you know you don't know.

The Lifeboat Song
What reaches out
Is groping through doubt
What settles in
Some choose to call sin
The barren grows hard
Where icebergs are charred
What’s wounded the eye
Is absence of sky
In a dingy at sea
Only salt’s free
Faces whistle a tune
As dry as a prune
Bones finger through hair
And empty the air
Since nobody knew
Which blessings were true
