First, thanks for reading and for taking the time to make a comment.
As for a fuller explanation of this one, I'll see what I can do without getting too long-winded.
I grew up with prayer. The idea of talking with GOD through prayer was a big part of my upbringing, both at church and at home.
Over the decades, my ideas about words like "prayer" and "God" have gone through some pretty significant stretching and realignment, though. I've also come to see how limited and how limiting words can be in general. They are the clothes we put on our experiences, but we forget that they are not those experiences.
I continue to "pray" to "God," but those experiences are quite different from the ones of my earlier years. Prayer to me now is really a matter of opening myself up to a deeper awareness of Tao, God, Allah -- that which lies within experience but outside of language's ability to clothe. When I open myself to this awareness, I'm always amazed at what I see. In those moments, the universe truly does become "interactive" for me.
But that's me. Your spiritual journey may take you along a different path.

Word is indispensable for our life. As you say, we often misunderstand we could grasp its meaning exactly. Truth could be described by words. If we can put off clothes of experience, we will be able to come near to it. Words bind us and we distort it. It is quite difficult to break away from this vicious circle. A priest of Zen meditation said word is "1","2","3". I think he would emphasize that word is unsubstantial, we would not be able to climb higher place only insisting on it.
Thank you for giving me a chance to rethink about significant words such as truth, virtue.
