Make a Difference
Tutor a child in school.
Teach an adult how to read.
Volunteer at a soup kitchen.
Donate blood.
Help build a Habitat for Humanity house.
Recycle everything you can.
Be tolerant and courteous toward those around you, no matter where you are.
Read to a sight-impaired person.
Visit someone in a nursing home.
Check on someone in a hospital or recovering at home.

I find it quite ironic that I read this post immediately after reading one on Rambling Without Bounds. On the other blog, Cecil mentioned how self-absorption is destroying our society and here you are writing about how to move past self-absorption.
Cool how that works sometimes.

Call or email, if you do not have the number a relative or a friend that you have not spoken to in a while. Even if it just to say hello, and talk about the weather. Even a fellow blogger if you sense they are going through some hard times. One of my blogger friends seems to be losing it. He is starting to give up hope. I could sense it in the tone of his words. There are many out there that just need to hear a word or two of something, anything.
