Who We Are


We are separate.
We are one.

Our separateness
is seductive.

Our oneness
runs deeper.

It takes both
to show us who we are.

    Siamese Twins

    Blood brothers. joined by
    A stump and made public, stared
    From daguerreotypes.

    Each had different
    Wives – go figure! – and children
    Cut free to run wild.

    Did one sulk and brood
    While the other laughed at what
    Conjoined thoughts led to?

    No wonder crowds lined
    Up to have horoscopes read
    In pure paradox.

    For that must be what
    Double identity makes:
    Trompe-d’oeil Rorschach shocks.
