Up Hill


High places are dry, windy, and cold.
Valleys are prone to floods and drought.
Mountainsides are the most testing terrain.

    Redoubt Volcano in Alaska

    When shifting plates scream,
    Forests ignite mountainsides.
    Matter liquefies.

    Lava fractures crags
    As swarms of ash billow out to
    Asphyxiate air.

    Hoarfrost sheds its pines
    To be transformed into gasps
    Of the wild, snuffed wicks.
