Thirsty Enough


If you're thirsty enough,
no rocky shore can keep you
from the water's edge.

    Inside each rock are
    Preserved fossils, beautiful
    As dead butterflies.

    Carbonized salt
    Proves even stones cry when struck,
    Desperate for fire.

    These days, more ticks thrive.
    An amphibian slithers
    Up a beach for air.
