Effacement
ReplyDeleteI feel defeated.
My kindness tastes like sugar
To diabetics
Whose feet have developed sores
By loading logs onto trucks.
Now no ear opens
Its moth wings to hear poems.
Elders have wasted
Away from leukemia
And only I read their words.
Only I repeat
Their wry way of concealing
The truth by placing
It in a sugar-coated limb
Of a tree struck by lightning.
