All I Want


Sometimes all I want is just one thing.
Sometimes all I want is everything there is.

Sometimes all I want is not enough.
Sometimes all I want is what I already have.

    Sugar cookies become doughnuts
    Around cardiac patients.

    Terrorists multiply like Russian babushka
    Dolls, one inside the other, ad infinitum,
    Each looking more normal than the other.

    The anxiety is all about who’ll be next
    On “Dancing with the Stars” –
    The Alien and the Predator burn out one last time.

    Drilling is causing earthquakes in Arkansas Tech
    University and moon-walking
    Will be easier without any of the trees around.

    What’s white about this milquetoast education
    Where everyone creative could die
    Trying to overcome insomnia?

    We have already been taken over.
    Nobody recognizes themselves
    Among homeless In the morning.
