Language becomes statistics,
Microchips in the universe
Between the call and the caul,
Forming a protective veil.
Itemizing reality,
Counting how many shoes you have,
How many teeth,
Gives some comfort.
Language defeats language,
Replacing abstractions with a solid wall
Against which a hard hat
Philosopher beats his head.
Language is so versatile
It leads us to believe
It can account for everything,
A safety pin in the ozone.
