To Be in Control

To be in control
or to be adaptable.
Which is stronger?

To have power
or to be penniless.
Which is more dangerous?

To exert one's own will
or to follow the clearest path.
Which is the richer life?

  1. Beware of the Blob

    It pools and drools
    Beneath your feet
    Too cool to greet you
    On the way out
    Of existential doubt.

    Its choice is moist,
    Needling and wheedling
    At the eyes, disguised
    To make you sorry
    For its hoary demise.

    Spineless as brines,
    It whines to be petted,
    Fetid as a swine
    Whose spine fretted
    And regretted design.

    Control cannot console
    This droll spool of coal
    That ignites depression,
    Calls into question,
    And spites the soul.
