All I Want

Sometimes all I want is just one thing.
Sometimes all I want is everything there is.

Sometimes all I want is not enough.
Sometimes all I want is what I already have.

“How are we going to take over the world
with a white Michael Jackson, anyway?”
-- Robot Chicken

Macadamia nuts in vanilla
Sugar cookies become doughnuts
Around cardiac patients.

Terrorists multiply like Russian babushka
Dolls, one inside the other, ad infinitum,
Each looking more normal than the other.

The anxiety is all about who’ll be next
On “Dancing with the Stars” –
The Alien and the Predator burn out one last time.

Drilling is causing earthquakes in Arkansas Tech
University and moon-walking
Will be easier without any of the trees around.

What’s white about this milquetoast education
Where everyone creative could die
Trying to overcome insomnia?

We have already been taken over.
Nobody recognizes themselves
Among homeless In the morning.
