Serene Acceptance

Peace is not
the absence of war
or conflict or struggle.

Peace is the serene
acceptance of what is --

Mannequin Masquerade

Wrapped in cellophane,
Toes aquiver, ballet leaps
Out of frothy tutus
Into the race of gazelles
Across African tundra.

(Silly me. Thought of a revision to the first tanka attempt I posted; this is the revision.)

Pour oil
on sandpaper,
honey over velvet.
Love again, anyway. Nothing
resists.
