Living in Boxes

If I live in a box
that somebody else built,
is it his box or is it my box?

If somebody else
lives in a box I built,
is it my box or is it his box?

And what is a box
but another set of limits?

Lox

The ox swallowed a bee and became a box. Stubborn, trapped, a lot of china got broken. What was inside fell out. Those beady eyeballs bounced across the linoleum. Tusks became toxic. The cook put lentils on to boil while a giant wrecking ball took the roof off. Everybody gathered around the open-air picnic table, ate oxtail, and discussed religion, waiting for the sky to fall. Without shelter, eventually it did.
