The Bending Tree

The tree that bends withstands the storm.
The reed that bends withstands the river.
The dancer who bends withstands the dance.

The bending river wears away stone.
The bending fire clears away forests.
A bending soul wears away adversity.

When you let go of controlling the world,
the door of your cell swings open before you.

Yes, that's oh so true, yet so difficult in its utter simplicity.

When I can let go of trying to control things beyond my control, things just fall into place.

It's like the Serenity Prayer:

Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
